Around here, C has an upcoming deadline for some research, so has been hard at work. K is looking for jobs, and otherwise filling her days with gardening, reading, cooking and baking, and more mundane things like laundry, grocery shopping and dishes. In the evenings and weekends, we have been trying to pick up tennis (C is picking it up faster than me) and last night, we watched my all-time favorite summertime flick – What about Bob?
What we’ve been eating: lots of tomatoes in many forms; salt-cured ouzo shrimp; make-your-own-springrolls; Moosewood stuffed zuccini, Turkish style; beef tenderloin with juniper berries and fennel, and burrata salsa. For dessert: buttermilk cookies; raspberry buttermilk cake; peach creme fraiche pie (C found a free bag of overripe peaches at the office); root beer floats (taste test says: Stewart’s is better than Weinhard’s); and baked apricots.
